Mielo, known to the government as Brett Stogsdill, released his first major original song less than one year ago, titled “Surreal.”

The track has received over 1.5 million total plays online – including 500,000+ on SoundCloud alone. How he got to this point, however, is another story.

Mielo (pronounced my-low), left the University of Iowa to move home to Chicago and produce music full-time.

In summation? He’s young and talented.

He’s been producing for over two years now and is finally finding new opportunities to showcase his talents to his hometown. Like Saturday night, when he’ll be supporting San Holo at evilOlive in Wicker Park.

Do you want to go? Perfect, click here. Or, you can click on Mielo’s face (yes, he’s the park bench guy directly below this) to RSVP.

At the moment, he resides in Homer Glen remixing Porter Robinson which isn’t surprising as his music sounds a lot like Porter’s, with a nice melodic change of pace.

Like any bro/producer would prefer, Mielo was also featured on The Chainsmokers’ popular show – Nice Hair. And although Brett still isn’t legally allowed to drink, he’s already getting support from major artists.

Some other fun facts about Mielo include:

– Produces electronic music.

– He was a varsity athlete in high school.

– He’s watched the entire series of How I Met Your Mother over 20 times, which when you think about it is a shit ton of television.

Also, be sure to follow this up-and-coming producer on SoundCloud, and look out for his next release which will be a remix of Porter Robinson’s “Say My Name.” We snuck a preview of the track and it’s heat.

And as a little bonus for both our readers here’s what Mielo had to say about the project:

“I wanted to do something more upbeat than porters live edit and also something that samples the original song a little bit more than what porter did with his live edit. The original song is one of my all time favorite songs.”

Keep your eye out for this 20-year-old Chicago producer over the summer as he continues to solidify himself as one of the city’s up-and-coming talents.
